Communities of Practice (CoPs) are regional bioeconomy networks uniting stakeholders across the value chain: researchers, policymakers, civil society, industry, SMEs, training groups, and citizen organizations for balanced, collaborative participation.

The four thematic CoPs will connect bioeconomy stakeholders, promoting collaboration, skill-building, and research translation. Each focuses on key areas to address regional challenges, fostering impactful bioeconomy innovation and best practices across Europe.

Bioeconomy Research

CoPs strengthen early-career researchers and institutions in bioeconomy by fostering knowledge exchange, skill development, and best practices, building a robust research community.

Open

Science

CoPs promote Open Science in bioeconomy by sharing knowledge and best practices, and engaging members and the wider community in adopting Open Science principles.

Knowledge Valorisation

CoPs support knowledge transfer by bridging research and practical application, ensuring bioeconomy research outcomes translate into innovations that benefit both society and the economy.

Inclusive Innovation

CoPs drive bioeconomy innovation by fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders, and supporting the development of new technologies, processes, and products for sustainable sector growth.

In BEAMING, the “Community of Practice” (CoP) focuses on developing competencies through collaborative knowledge sharing, capacity building, and innovation within the bioeconomy sector. It fosters informal, peer-to-peer learning.

In contrast, an “Alliance” in BEAMING involve formal partnerships aimed at achieving specific objectives, with clear roles and responsibilities. Alliances focus on leveraging combined resources, expertise, and networks to drive strategic goals and impact, particularly in research, policy, and industry innovation.

CoPs have the mission to aid the BEAMING consortium in producing guidelines and training/mentoring frameworks in the Bioeconomy sector.

The CoPs will operate in ten widening countries: Hungary, Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania, Serbia, Albania, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, and the Czech Republic, fostering bioeconomy research and collaboration.
