BEAMING LAUNCHES INTERNAL 2-STAGE CALL FOR PROPOSALS TO FOSTER COLLABORATIVE BIOECONOMY RESEARCH
BEAMING has launched its internal 2-stage Call for Proposals, inviting Communities of Practice members to develop collaborative and interdisciplinary research project ideas that support innovation and knowledge valorisation in the bioeconomy.
The call aims to encourage cooperation between higher education institutions, industry, SMEs, policymakers, NGOs and civil society actors, with a particular focus on Widening countries in Central-Eastern and South-Eastern European EU Member States and the Western Balkans.
Proposals are welcome across the full range of the bioeconomy and should contribute to an innovative and inclusive sustainability transition. Applicants are encouraged to address current challenges, opportunities or gaps connected to the four BEAMING pillars: Bioeconomy Research, Open Science, Knowledge Valorisation and Innovation Culture.
To be eligible, each team must include at least three confirmed BEAMING Communities of Practice members with different roles, such as higher education institutions, industry, SMEs, policy actors or NGOs. Each team must also appoint a team lead as the prospective project lead partner.
The first stage application should include the project title, team composition, summary, objectives, project work plan, expected outcomes and impacts, and target groups. Applications must be submitted in English to info@beamingproject.eu, with the file name matching the project title. The deadline for submitting the 1st Stage Application is 30 September 2026.
Up to five teams will be selected and invited to the second stage of the call: a 3-day Proposal Development Workshop, organised by BME in May 2027. During the workshop, selected teams will further develop their project outlines into full project proposals with the support of experienced mentors. The process will also include pitch sessions and guidance to identify future funding opportunities.
Selection will be based on quality and merit, relevance and alignment with BEAMING objectives, expected outcomes and impacts, diverse and inclusive innovation, and alignment with Open Science practices.
