BEAMING WEBINAR EXPLORES HOW TO BUILD INCLUSIVE INNOVATION CULTURES IN HIGHER EDUCATION

On Monday, September 7, 2026, the BEAMING project held a Community of Practice webinar titled “How to Improve Inclusive Innovation Culture in Higher Education Institutions”, bringing together 25 partners and CoP members virtually. The session focused on sharing practical recommendations for fostering an Inclusive Innovation Culture (IIC) — defined as the everyday practices and mindset that create fertile ground for creativity, critical thinking, innovation and collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders within academic institutions.

The webinar drew on in-depth case studies conducted across BEAMING partner countries, which examined how institutions currently approach inclusive innovation and identified the specific challenges and framework conditions shaping their regions. Presenter Liliya Pullmann from Fraunhofer outlined how the resulting recommendations combine established academic insights on inclusive innovation culture with these region-specific findings, with the explicit aim of addressing root causes rather than surface-level symptoms. This approach ensures that the guidance offered is not only theoretically grounded but also practically relevant to the diverse institutional contexts represented within the consortium.

Following the presentation, the floor was opened for discussion, giving attendees the opportunity to share feedback and reflect on how the recommendations might be applied within their own institutions. The strong turnout of 25 participants underlined the continued engagement of the BEAMING community with the project’s work on inclusive innovation, and the discussion is expected to inform further refinement of the recommendations as the project progresses. innovation.
