INTERVIEW WITH MARTIN GREIMEL & BERNHARD KASTNER – BOKU

“Co-creative capacity building will help us to learn from each other’s best practices, find ways to implement partner-specific solutions, and actively participate in the European Open Science Initiative” Martin Greimel & Bernhard Kastner from BOKU speak in this interview about their role and contributions within the BEAMING project.

Q: What are the main tasks and activities of BOKU within the BEAMING project?

A: BOKU is representing the European Bioeconomy University Alliance (EBU) in the Beaming Project as the current holder of its presidency.

The EBU is an alliance of 8 leading Universities in Europe with a focus on bioeconomy. Within Beaming we will participate in the set up and distribution of mapping exercises, surveys and questionnaires. We will also be involved in the analysis of information gathered by these activities.

Another important input is the provision of best practice examples. Within the EBU a lot of expertise is available, and we will provide this expertise by contributing to workshops and conferences, enabling mobility of scientific and administrative persons from the Beaming partners and facilitating knowledge transfer.

We also contribute to boosting Open Science practices within the BEAMING project through mobility-based activities to strengthen the adoption of Open Science practices across partners. Co-creative capacity building will help us to learn from each other’s best practices, find ways to implement partner-specific solutions, and actively participate in the European Open Science Initiative.

Q: What challenges do you find in the BEAMING project?

A: The partners in BEAMING come from very diverse backgrounds and have different framework conditions. This means that a “one size fits all” approach will not be successful. However, this diversity also provides an opportunity to make very specific and tailored contributions, which, while requiring significant resources and time, can lead to more customized and successful outcomes.
