MAJOR BIOTECHNOLOGY CONFERENCES IN INDIA: INNOVATION, SUSTAINABILITY, AND BIOECONOMY
November saw India host three high-impact biotechnology conferences, bringing together leading experts from academia and industry across 28 countries. Each event attracted over 300 participants, supported by prominent publishers and sponsors. The conferences focused on emerging technologies, emphasizing circularity and sustainability in the bioeconomy as central themes.
Professor Marina Tišma, a notable figure in the field, showcased the BEAMING project through invited lectures, discussions with colleagues, and engagement with highly motivated Indian students. At the first conference, “Innovations in Biotechnology for Sustainability”, held in New Delhi, she delivered a lecture on the biotechnological applications of Trametes versicolor. During the second event, “Advances in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics (ICABB 2024)”, hosted in Pune, she explored the cascading utilization of by-products from the brewing industry.
The final conference, “Emerging Approaches in Risk Analysis and Translational Aspects of Health and Environment (EARTH-2024)”, took place in Lucknow, where Professor Tišma discussed the industrial applications of laccase. These conferences not only facilitated the exchange of cutting-edge knowledge but also fostered strategic collaborations to advance sustainable biotechnology.
